The OADC, Okmulgee Area Development Corporation, is a privately funded organization to promote economic development for the Okmulgee County area.

The National Brownfields Conference is the largest event in the Nation focused on environmental revitalization and economic re-development. In 2015, Okmulgee received the Regional and National Phoenix Award as the best Brownfield project in the region and nation for the remediation work done on the former Phillips 66 refinery, now known as the Okmulgee Business Complex.
